Special Tribute to Steve

At 10am Terri Irwin will conduct a special unveiling in the zoo of a tribute to Steve. This will become a special part of the zoo for year's to come.

The Rockoseum
The Crocoseum will be transformed into the Rockoseum with huge acts performed throughout the day:

  • 11:00am - The world premiere of three new songs performed LIVE by Bindi Irwin who will be accompanied by the Crocmen
  • 11:45am - Performance by Australia's very own Olivia Newton-John
  • 3:00pm - Performance by Rock Legend Jimmy Barnes

Terri's New Book
Terri will launch her new book, 'My Steve' and conduct book signings from 1:00pm until 2:30pm.

Don your Khakis
On November 15 we're asking people from around the world to don their khakis in remembering Steve and raising money for wildlife conservation. It wouldn't be right not to make a HUGE deal of it here at Australia Zoo- the very home of the khaki-clad Crocodile Hunter. So if you don your khakis you will receive 10 per cent off your entry and a free khaki wristband you will also be eligible to enter our 'Khaki Catwalk'!

Khaki Catwalk Fashion Parade
We all know that khaki's were Steve's trademark and he wore them with pride! We now want you to don your khakis and show us how good you look in them by entering our Khaki Catwalk Fashion Parade. Khaki Catwalk will be judged by the one and only Bindi Irwin, what a little ripper! There will be two age categories 12 and under and 12 and over. Prizes include some awesome animal experiences at the zoo.
You can register for Khaki Catwalk on the day, it is as easy as:
  1. Coming to Australia Zoo on Steve Irwin Day
  2. Registering for Khaki Catwalk on November 15 at a booth which will be set up at Australia Zoo's Admissions
  3. Entering your age category
  4. Entering one of the below three categories:
    • Most Creative
    • Most Outrageous
    • Most Authentic
  5. Strutting your stuff in the Crocoseum at 1:50pm as part of the Khaki Catwalk
Australia Zoo's Beach
Australia Zoo will have its very own beach, with a huge crocodile sand sculpture, sand sculpture workshops and a visit from the surf lifesavers. Little Kids and Big Kids alike can learn how to create their own amazing sand sculptures. You can also learn surf safety tips from the lifesavers who will conduct demonstrations throughout the day or have a go on the mechanical surfboard!

Australia Zoo's Very Own Backyard
Visit Australia Zoo's backyard where you can take part in DIY Bird and Possum Box Workshops which you can take home and place in your own backyard! You can also take part in painting classes to bring out the creative streak in you as well as learning how to cook up a storm... for birds that is... concoct some delicious recipes for the native birds in your garden.

Conservation Messages/Time Capsule
You could make history by telling us your conservation hopes for the future and be included in the Australia Zoo Time Capsule. Hopes will be written on miniature khaki shirts that will be displayed on the good ol' Aussie invention the hills hoist clothes line.

Landcare Australia
Landcare Australia will be at Australia Zoo to celebrate Steve's positive attitude and passion for the environment with a gift to the first 3,000 guests of a very rare and valuable 'dinosaur tree' - the Wollemi Pine once thought long extinct but found growing in small numbers deep in a rainforest gorge and now being grown in captivity. Help make sure it never goes extinct by caring for one at home!

Landcare ambassador and cricket legend Glenn McGrath will be on hand for autographs and tips on how you can do your bit to save the planet - starting in your own back yard - and will be assisted by the super-green super-hero 'Landcare Man'. Also, don't miss Coastcare ambassador and ironman legend Guy Leech at the Landcare tent. Guy will be there to talk about his passion for the beautiful Aussie coast and how everyone can lend a hand to protect our precious marine life.

Tent Pitching Competition
To tie in with the Backyard Campout we will be running a 'tent pitching' competition. Two lucky families who come on the day will have the chance to take part in the competition with the final taking place in the Crocoseum. The family to pitch the tent in the fastest time will win a family trip on The Ghan! Wooo hoo, what a little ripper!

Crocoseum Auction
Take part in an awesome auction in the Crocoseum where you can bid for three special items:
  1. A signed cap by Steve
  2. A signed DVD by Steve

A 'Crikey Scene Investigation' area will be set up where the special crime squad will educate you on why your finger print is so unique and how this is similar in the animal world.

Car Park Activity
As soon as you arrive you can join the celebrations with a BIG Brekkie Cook-up in the Car-Park, as well as a Crocodile Hunter Jumping Castle and RACQ Education Truck or join in the OB festivities with B105!
